+ I'm not really a part of the Twitter Exodus as such -- I use it and I'll be sad if it dies, but it's not my primary fannish social media. (I'm a Tumblr kid at heart.) Still, I've been enjoying the excuse to try and get into using Dreamwidth properly, since I've never quite clicked with it before. I've posted on a couple of friending memes: a MDZS/CQL-specific one, and a multifandom one.

I should probably set up a proper intro/welcome post like I've seen other people have, but that sort of thing is always difficult. Even my profile bio is a little, uh, sparse. ^_^' In general, I'm still getting to grips with how and what I want to post here. But I'm reliably informed that "three things make a post", so at least there's that, and I have a couple of posts musing about writing in my documents that I'll finish off at some point.

+ There's a few different crowdfunders that I'm trying to decide if I'm going to back right now.

1) Inscrutable Cities. It's a solo RPG, something I'm always into, and it's written and published by some really cool people. On the other hand, if I was going to back it, rather than buying it later, I'd probably want to get a physical copy, and there's no details on shipping prices right now. A similar thing turned me off another Backerkit project recently, although that was because it wasn't clear whether a tier that just included an oracle deck would cost the same amount to ship as the full board game it was attached to. (I have a rule of thumb for myself not to spend more on shipping than an item itself costs.)

2) The Magnus Protocol. I mean, it definitely doesn't need my help, given how well it's been funded! It's been long enough that the sour feelings I had about parts of The Magnus Archives and fandom have mostly faded, and I can look back happily on the parts of it I enjoyed, which is more than not. I have no doubt that I'll enjoy at least most of The Magnus Protocol as well; it's just the question of how much money I want to put into it.

+ Over the weekend, I became possessed with the urge to rearrange my front room, but it's a more complicated endeavour than I thought it would be.

My craft table currently sits in the middle of a bay window, which means I can't get to the window itself or close the curtains. It's one roadblock sitting in the way of me getting crafting done -- by the time I get in from work, it's dark outside, and I don't want to sit in a lit room and be really obvious to people on the street. Since this is the room that's going to be my home office when I start hybrid working next year, it's doubly a concern.

The plan is to swap the places of the table and a very comfy chair that I have sitting against one wall. The chair will take up less space in the bay window, and will be easier to clamber over to get to things if needs be. However, because it's an annoyingly large table, if I want to put any pictures up on the wall it'll sit against, I have to do it before moving the table. I've been procrastinating on measuring and framing all my pictures ever since IKEA stopped making the frame I had in mind for a set of them.

So now what seemed like a simple, if physically intensive task has snowballed into more sub-tasks than I thought:
  1. Figure out what pictures I want to put up
  2. Measure pictures
  3. Buy frames / use frames I have already
  4. Frame pictures
  5. Put them up (or assist in putting them up)
  6. Move furniture around
Grumble grumble. I just want the instant gratification of everything being in the right places so I don't have to worry about it again. And I need to clear off my other desk so it's ready for me to do a day of home-working later this month, so that's another task for the list.

+ Bonus cool thing that's appealing to me as someone who recently got into gifset-making on Tumblr: some code for making equivalent image post layouts on Dreamwidth!

Crowdfunders really can bork you over on shipping, I’ve really downscaled my backings due to his. (And then there’s customs *shudders*)

Sounds like you’ve got a real solid plan for the front room, though yes, a lot of moving pieces, which can be a real speed bump. Not possible to just move the table right away while you settle on pictures and frames, and then sliding it out to hang them when they’re ready?

I feel ya on having a lot of crafting plans hehe. I’m still pushing towards getting my area good to go, but it’s slow goings.
